English Teacher – O Level (Grades IX to XI)

Reports To: O Level Coordinator Job Summary The Intellect School is seeking a qualified and experienced English Teacher to teach Grades IX and XI. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons, developing students' reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills, and preparing them for O Level examinations while upholding the school's Islamic values and Shariah-compliant policies and practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver well-structured English lessons in accordance with the Cambridge O Level curriculum.

• Develop students' reading, writing, grammar, comprehension, vocabulary, and communication skills.

• Teach literature, language, essay writing, and other relevant syllabus components.

• Encourage critical thinking, analytical skills, and effective written and verbal communication.

• Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations through revision, past paper practice, and examination techniques.

• Develop lesson plans, teaching materials, assessments, and revision resources.

• Assess student progress, check notebooks and written work, and provide constructive feedback.

• Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, academic performance, and progress reports.

• Create an engaging classroom environment that promotes learning and participation.

• Integrate appropriate digital learning tools and multimedia resources into teaching.

• Fulfil class teacher responsibilities, including morning, home-time, and prayer-time duties, as assigned.

• Take substitution classes when required.

• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.

• Communicate with parents, students, and school administration regarding academic progress.

• Uphold the school's Islamic values, moral standards, and Shariah-compliant policies and practices.

• Perform any other duties assigned by the O Level Coordinator.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in English, English Literature, Linguistics, or a related field.

• B.Ed., PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification preferred.

• Minimum 2–3 years of English teaching experience; Cambridge O Level teaching experience preferred.

• Strong command of English grammar, composition, comprehension, and literary analysis.

• Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.

• Familiarity with modern teaching strategies and digital learning tools will be an advantage.

• Commitment to Islamic values and the school's educational philosophy.
