Shadow Teacher Intern for my son, Grade 2 at Roots International (Richmond Campus)

Job description

I am looking for a caring, patient, and responsible Shadow Teacher / Classroom Support Intern for my son, who is studying in Grade 2 at Roots International Schools & Colleges (RISC), Richmond Campus.

The school has recommended that my son have a shadow teacher for one-on-one classroom support, mainly to help him remain seated during lessons, stay attentive, listen to the class teacher, and follow classroom routines and instructions.

Job Type • 5 days a week. • 9:00 AM to 2PM (Mon to Thursday) • 9:00AM to 11 AM (Fri)

Key Responsibilities: • Gently guide and remind him to remain seated during lessons. • Help him stay focused and listen to the class teacher. • Redirect him calmly if he gets distracted or starts roaming around the classroom. • Give simple reminders to follow the teacher’s instructions. • Help him stay engaged with the activity or task being carried out in class. • Support him during transitions between subjects and classroom activities. • Encourage appropriate classroom behavior through positive reinforcement. • Help reduce distractions and bring his attention back to the lesson when required. • Encourage him to gradually become more independent in following classroom routines. • Coordinate respectfully with the class teacher regarding the support he requires. • Provide me with a brief update regarding his classroom participation, attention, and progress when needed.

Please note: The main purpose of this role is to provide attention, behavioral, and classroom routine support. The shadow teacher is not expected to replace the class teacher, teach the curriculum independently, or complete the child’s work for him.

Who I Am Looking For: This opportunity would be suitable for someone looking for an internship or practical classroom experience to enhance their skills, particularly a university student or fresh graduate in: • Psychology • Education • Special Education • Child Development • Behavioral Sciences • Or a related field

The ideal candidate should be patient, calm, responsible, friendly with children, and willing to learn. Previous experience is appreciated but not essential if the candidate has the right attitude and interest in gaining hands-on experience.

Location: Roots International Schools & Colleges (RISC), Richmond Campus Grade: Grade 2 Position: Shadow Teacher / Classroom Support Intern Stipend: Can be discussed in detail with the suitable candidate.

Important: This is a privately arranged position by me as the parent. The shadow teacher will be hired and compensated privately and will not be employed or paid by the school.
