SUMMARY
We are seeking a Senior Hardware Design Engineer to own the electronic design of our industrial and embedded products end to end — from concept and architecture, through schematic capture, PCB design, prototyping and bring-up, to validation, certification and volume production. The role spans analog, digital and mixed-signal design, with a strong emphasis on robust industrial I/O, reliable power architecture and disciplined design-for-manufacture.
The successful candidate will act as the technical anchor of the hardware team: making architecture and component decisions, resolving difficult debug problems on the bench, working directly with firmware, mechanical, sourcing and manufacturing colleagues, and mentoring junior engineers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESDesign & Development • Own circuit architecture and schematic design for analog, digital and mixed-signal industrial products, from requirement capture to release. • Lead multi-layer PCB design and layout (Altium Designer preferred), including stack-up definition, placement strategy, routing constraints, grounding and shielding. • Design industrial analog input/output interfaces — 0–10 V and 4–20 mA loops, precision signal conditioning, ADC/DAC chains, galvanic isolation, and input/output protection against surge, ESD and reverse polarity. • Develop power architectures including switch-mode and linear regulation, battery-powered and low-power designs, sequencing, filtering and thermal budgeting. • Design and review high-speed interfaces where required — Gigabit Ethernet, PCIe, DDR3/DDR4 and other controlled-impedance links — with appropriate signal-integrity and power-integrity analysis. • Integrate MCUs, sensors, memories and communication controllers (STM32, ESP32, nRF, dsPIC or similar) with the associated I²C, SPI, UART, RS-232, RS-485, CAN, Ethernet and wireless interfaces. • Produce and maintain complete design documentation: schematics, BOMs, assembly drawings, test specifications, design calculations and change records.
Prototyping, Bring-Up & Validation • Lead prototype builds and board bring-up, including first-power-on procedures, incremental subsystem verification and fault isolation. • Debug hardware to component level using oscilloscopes, logic analysers, spectrum analysers, multimeters, power analysers and protocol decoders. • Define and execute hardware validation plans: functional, electrical, thermal, environmental and long-duration reliability testing. • Work with firmware engineers on hardware/firmware integration, peripheral configuration, timing issues and low-power behaviour.
Compliance & Certification • Design for EMI/EMC compliance from the outset — grounding, filtering, shielding, layout discipline and mitigation of emissions and susceptibility issues. • Lead product certification activities and pre-compliance testing across CE, FCC, UL, RoHS, REACH and applicable IEC standards. • Prepare technical files and manage the relationship with external certification laboratories and notified bodies. • Apply relevant industrial and functional-safety standards to design decisions; familiarity with ATEX/IECEx intrinsic-safety practice is a distinct advantage.
Manufacturing & Product Lifecycle • Drive DFM, DFA and DFT reviews with contract manufacturers and internal production teams. • Select components against performance, reliability, cost, lifecycle and availability criteria for the intended industrial operating environment. • Manage hardware revisions, ECOs and component end-of-life transitions with minimal disruption to production. • Support NPI and production ramp-up, including test-jig definition, yield analysis and field-failure investigation.
Collaboration & Leadership • Work closely with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, quality and sourcing teams to deliver an integrated product rather than an isolated board. • Provide design reviews, technical guidance and mentoring to junior hardware engineers. • Contribute to feasibility studies, effort estimation, technical proposals and roadmap planning.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or a closely related engineering discipline. • 5–7 years of professional hardware design experience, preferably in industrial electronics or embedded products. • Demonstrated ownership of at least two products taken from prototype through to volume production. • Strong theoretical and practical command of analog, digital and mixed-signal electronics. • Hands-on experience with AI/AO interfaces, 4–20 mA, 0–10 V, ADC/DAC, signal conditioning, isolation and protection circuits. • Proven multi-layer PCB design capability, with Altium Designer strongly preferred (OrCAD or KiCad acceptable). • Working experience with STM32, ESP32, dsPIC or comparable microcontroller platforms. • Solid understanding of I²C, SPI, UART, RS-232, RS-485, CAN and industrial communication interfaces. • Excellent hardware debugging and root-cause analysis skills on the bench. • Clear technical communication and documentation skills in English.
PREFERRED / NICE TO HAVE • High-speed design experience: Gigabit Ethernet, PCIe, DDR4, controlled impedance and length matching. • Use of signal-integrity and simulation tools — HyperLynx, Sigrity, ADS, SPICE, ANSYS or HFSS. • Mechanical/enclosure design in SolidWorks, including fit, thermal dissipation and manufacturability. • Power electronics design experience (converters, drives, protection). • Familiarity with DFMEA, PFMEA and reliability/HALT testing. • Working knowledge of C/C++ for embedded systems sufficient to write bring-up and test firmware. • Experience with IoT product development and wireless integration (BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa, cellular). • Track record of working with global suppliers, contract manufacturers and certification bodies.
KEY COMPETENCIES • Ownership — takes a design from blank sheet to shipped product without needing to be chased. • Engineering rigour — justifies decisions with calculations, datasheets and measurements rather than assumption. • Problem solving — methodical, evidence-led fault finding under schedule pressure. • Collaboration — communicates clearly across firmware, mechanical and production boundaries. • Mentorship — raises the capability of the engineers around them.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
First 3 months: fully productive on the existing hardware platforms; owning at least one board revision, its bring-up and its validation.
First 6 months: leading the hardware design of a new product from architecture through first prototype, with design reviews and documentation to an agreed standard.
First 12 months: a product released to production under your ownership, certification evidence in place, and measurable improvement in design-review and DFM practice across the team.
HOW TO APPLY
Please submit your CV together with a short portfolio or summary of hardware projects you have personally designed — ideally including schematics or PCB work you can discuss in detail, the standards each product was certified to, and the specific problems you solved during bring-up and production transfer.
Pay: From Rs350,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
