Conveyance Allowance Overview

Conveyance Allowance is granted to government employees to facilitate their daily commute from their residence to the workplace and back.

Rates for 2026

The current Conveyance Allowance rates are determined based on the employee's Basic Pay Scale (BPS):

• BPS 1 to 4: PKR 1,785 per month
• BPS 5 to 10: PKR 1,932 per month
• BPS 11 to 15: PKR 2,856 per month
• BPS 16 to 19: PKR 5,000 per month
• BPS 20 to 22: PKR 7,500 per month

Eligibility Rules

1. Official Vehicle: Employees who are provided with an official vehicle, whether maintained at the government's expense or otherwise, are not eligible for Conveyance Allowance.
2. Leave Periods: Conveyance Allowance is strictly intended to cover the daily commute to the office. Therefore, it is not admissible during leave of any kind (Earned Leave, Medical Leave, Maternity Leave, Extraordinary Leave, etc.). If an employee takes leave, the allowance is proportionally deducted for the leave days.
3. Suspension: An employee under suspension is not attending the office and is therefore not entitled to Conveyance Allowance.
4. Vacations: Staff belonging to vacation departments (e.g., teaching staff) are not entitled to Conveyance Allowance during the summer vacations.

Special Cases

Disabled employees are granted Special Conveyance Allowance at the rate of PKR 2,000 per month in addition to the normal Conveyance Allowance, subject to the conditions laid down by the Finance Division.
